About us
We are an independent, family run farm based in Long Witton, Morpeth, Northumberland.
ABERDEEN ANGUS
In 1996 we started breeding ABERDEEN ANGUS here at Lakewood.
We won an award in 2010 recognising our herd as the most improved in terms of genetic merit. Many of our cattle are classed in the top 1% of their breed for their traits.
GOATS
In 2006 we decided to diversify and we bought a small herd of dairy goats, with the intention of producing goat milk and cheese products. However, after much consideration, we quickly decided that our experience makes us more suited to raising animals for meat.
We founded The Goat Company and purchased a young Boer buck goat called Janus Rum (Ron). Ron was from an accredited herd in Norfolk and quickly took to his new position as our stud buck. We always carefully research and select our studs and have spent many years of careful breeding to ensure we have the healthiest possible herd which produces the highest quality of goat meat. We now have a herd of more than 250 goats with an excellent, traceable, history.
Our goats are CAE accredited and Johnnes tested by SACS and tested for diseases and parasites in line with regulations as a high health status herd.
WE LOVE WHAT WE DO
Based amongst the rolling hills of Northumberland, our herd is healthy, happy and free to roam, run and play. We genuinely care about our animals and make sure that they have a natural and fulfilling life.
