We began breeding ABERDEEN ANGUS here at Lakewood in 1996
In 2010 we won an award which recognised our herd as the most improved in terms of genetic merit. Many of our cattle are classed in the top 1% of their breed for their traits.
In 2006 we bought a small herd of dairy goats with the intention of producing goat milk and cheese products. However, after much consideration, we decided that our experience makes us more suited to raising animals for meat.
We purchased a young Boer buck goat called Janus Rum (Ron), who was from an accredited herd in Norfolk, and quickly took to his new position as our stud buck.
We now have more than 250 goats with an excellent, traceable, history. We carefully research and select our studs and have spent many years of careful breeding to ensure we have the healthiest possible herd which produce the highest quality of goat meat.
Our herd is well cared for, free to roam, run and play, healthy and happy. It is CAE accredited and Johnnes tested by SACS, and tested for diseases and parasites in line with regulations as a high health status herd.
We featured in The Newcastle Journal as we were becoming more established as the North East's only goat and kid meat producer!!
In 2010 we featured in The Newcastle Journal - when the real goat work (!) was beginning.
We were proud to be featured in the second edition of the very prestigious Savour Magazine in 2016
Our goat meat was used in the Newcastle episode of Come Dine With Me on Channel 4 in 2015 to make a delicious goat curry
