The goats are reared on the award winning Lakewood Stud in Northumberland by proprietors June and Martin Whiting.  All the stock on the farm are CAE accredited by SACS, tested for  Johnnes, and health planning is carried out in conjunction with our vets.

    We are:

    • Insured as a farm and food producer
    • Registered with trading standards as a food producer - (trading standards check records such as medicine books and herd and movement registers for the animals)
    • Use a small friendly slaughterhouse/abbatoir in Cockfield, Co. Durham -the closest that is licensed to slaughter goats
    • Butchered to your requirements -weighed and packaged - delivered or couriered to your door
    • Available to buy in small packs (500g/1kg), in a variety of cuts
    • Whole or half carcasses can be supplied - delivered to your catering butcher (depending on where in the country - mainland only) - or packed in cold boxes with ice
    • Now available to try -diced, chops and joints!
    • Couriered usually overnight - (offal is also usually vacuum- packed)
    • Can be hung in a cold store for as many days as requested - usually 5-7 dependent on customer's taste

The Goat Company has gained much interest from Michelin Star rated restaurants in Newcastle and London who are interested in the quality, leanness and healthier option of the meat.

The rest of the herd was started on site and we still have the original dairy goats which began the whole enterprise.

Goat meat (chevon) is becoming increasingly popular in this country as it is a tender meat, similar to lamb or beef but slightly more gamey. It is low in cholesterol and saturated fat, high in iron and B vitamins, and healthier than chicken.

It is said to make up 80% of the meat consumed in the world. Recently it has enjoyed a high media profile, both on the radio and television.

The Goat Company boer herd was started with Janus Rum - known as Ron - who was bought from Tiff and Judith Hall in Norfolk.
